Competitions for doctoral students and participants in doctoral studies, organized within the framework of the strategic program Excellence Initiative at the Jagiellonian University ("ID.UJ").

The Hugo Kołłątaj Award is granted by the Rector of the Jagiellonian University either to an individual or to a team for contribution to the popularization of knowledge in school environment and for intensive and fruitful cooperation with secondary schools towards encouraging educational aspirations among young people and adults, as well as for the authorship of high-importance methodological textbooks and for innovation in the field of teaching aids.

The Pro Arte Docendi Award is received by outstanding JU academic teachers for high quality of didactic work, in particular for their mastery in the art of transferring knowledge, excellent work results and relationships with students, cooperation with outstanding students and student research clubs, as well as introducing innovative solutions in the field of education and putting into practice innovative methods and means in line with the principles of modern academic teaching.

The purpose of evaluating teaching activities is to monitor the teaching process and systematically improve the quality of teaching at the University. This is done by collecting and analyzing students’ opinions on academic teachers’ work (including research teaching staff and PhD students) and the classes they conduct. The opinions constitute one of the basic criteria for evaluating whether JU teachers fulfil their duties and are the basis for distinguishing those best-rated.

The Katarzyna Kulig Award is granted to young JU employees and graduates of doctoral studies for outstanding doctoral and postdoctoral thesis related to the search for new medicines.

The highest distinction which is granted by the JU Senate to people with outstanding academic achievements and universally recognized academic and moral authorities.

Medal awarded to distinguished personalities for their eminent services to the Jagiellonian University.

The Jagiellonian Laurel is an award granted by the Rector on the occasion of the Jagiellonian University Day for the outstanding academic achievements from the five calendar years preceding the year in which the award is granted.

A person who has rendered special services to the Jagiellonian University can be decorated with the JU Person of Merit Award.
