Just like every employee of the Jagiellonian University, you get access to an e-mail account in the domain of the Jagiellonian University. Your access to your employee e-mail account will be active throughout your employment at the University. The university e-mail address also serves as a login for most of the other IT tools.
Like in the case of university e-mail accounts, each Jagiellonian University employee gets access to an Information Portal, where they can, among other things, submit vacation, business trips and bonus requests.
USOS is an IT system that improves and supports the technical aspects of studying. The system can be used by both lecturers and students - the university staff can use it to fill in credit and exam records; while students can sign up for courses and classes, download syllabuses and check the results of their exams there.
As a Jagiellonian University employee with access to e-mail, you can also use Office 365 Online. With this service, you can work with documents and files (your own or shared with colleagues) anywhere, at any time – as long as you have access to the Internet and your computer, tablet or smartphone.
The main website of the Jagiellonian University is uj.edu.pl, containing information and university-wide news. In addition to the home webpage of the JU, as part of the university portal platform, almost every university unit has its website - faculties, chairs, departments, administration departments and sections. On the Jagiellonian University Portal, there are not only webpages of the Jagiellonian University Senate, faculty councils and disciplines, but also you can find newsletters' webpage, info about conferences, and other university projects. The webpage you are currently on is also a part of the University Portal platform.
The Jagiellonian University Portal section currently administers 630 active websites with over 620,000 subpages. Over 1,200 employees called site editors are responsible for the content on these webpages.
To become an editor of an active website, all you have to do is undergo training and submit the application form - the same procedures apply when you want to establish a new website. The University Portal Section provides assistance in this regard. The website www.portal.uj.edu.pl contains information and advice for those who want to learn more about the Jagiellonian University Portal and create/run any website of th University units or webiste of projects or conferences.
The Jagiellonian University's remote teaching platforms enable professors and employees to teach students via the Internet and share materials (texts, images, animations, videos). These materials may be produced either within the platforms themselves or using external applications.
Teaching via platforms can include synchronous (chat and video chat) and asynchronous elements (forums, quizzes, surveys, polls).
Moreover, the platforms enable students to test their knowledge and skills using various types of tests and exercises.
The great advantage of this form of teaching is the mobility it offers – using platforms requires only Internet access. The platforms are also unlimited – students can spend any amount of time they want.
The UJ remote learning platforms are based on Moodle open source software.
Remote academic teaching, including the development of new forms and teaching methods at the Jagiellonian University is supported by the JU Centre for Distant Learning, which also provides the lecturers with help in designing and conducting classes via the Internet.

There are four remote learning platforms at the Jagiellonian University:
Pegaz is a platform designed for conducting remote classes and presenting teaching materials. Each class created in the Dean’s Office USOS system has its equivalent on the Pegaz platform with the same users assigned to it.
Krakus provides additional courses, which are not available in the USOS system, for students of the Jagiellonian University as well as other universities cooperating with the Jagiellonian University.
Jaszczur is a platform for training courses for the staff of the Jagiellonian University (including health and safety training).
Uniwersytet Jagielloński bez Granic (The Jagiellonian University without Borders) is a platform for open educational resources, providing materials and courses for all interested parties, available free of charge. Some courses offer active participation, in which case users need to register for it.
The UJ_WiFi wireless network is available to all staff and students, across the entire University.
To use the UJ_WiFi network, select it, then use your login and password to log in – the same details you use to log in to your university e-mail account.
You may use the Jagiellonian University video conferencing system to attend remote meetings (including video habilitation) between selected academic centres in Poland and abroad. This eliminates the need for participants of debates and meetings to travel between universities.
In order to secure the connections, the videoconferencing system of the Jagiellonian University takes advantage of the Pionier nationwide academic network.
